I'm using MAME 32 version 0.119 and was wondering if there is a limit to how many roms in the directory?

I've put roms in the roms folder (about 20) but can't add anymore. If possible I'd like to add more roms.

on mame 32 I go to option, then directories, then I insert the rom. But there seems to be a limit on how many you can add.

Sounds like your doing some crazy stuff. But all wrong......

Once you download ROMs you place them in one folder labeled ROMs. ""KEEP the roms zipped once you download them."" Now start MAME32 goto options then directories, delete all your other ones you made. Then click insert and place the ROMs folder in the directories box. when you click OK and then press F5 to Audit all games. http://www.geocities.com/mamehelp/

I have my roms in the roms folder but I have sub folders labeled A to Z plus #, Bios, and Chd folders. If you do it this way then you would need each sub folder in the directories box. I have 29 directories in mine no problem.

After reading more questions you wrote I would say you have unzipped all the ROM you have, BAD move. ROMs and BIOS file are to be kept ZIPPED CHD files need to be unzipped and placed in a properly labeled folder.
I think your going to have to (or need to) re download your roms and keep them ZIPPED. place them in the MAME program in the ROMs folder.
