Staying at my grandma's house when I was a lil kid. She lived in a 'lil house in the mountains of East Tennessee. She had a old wood heated kitchen stove and every morning at breakfast time me and my cousin Susie used to sit behind it and wait for breakfast. The smells were heavenly...a mix of wood smoke/sausage/eggs/bacon/grits/pancakes and we'd top it off with juice. She knew how to put a feed on. Then we'd go sit out on the porch looking down the mountain in front of her house to the highway. When a car/truck would go by it'd create a breeze that traveled up the mountain and gently blowed over us. That was over 35 years ago, she's passed on now several years but, I can close my eyes and remember it like it was yesterday. If I could ever go back in time I'd go back to then. That is my fondest childhood memory.

Favorite childhood toy...
Ahh. Defintley the ever-popular Barbie. I literally had about 100 of them. I got my first one as a reward for quitting my thumb sucking when I was like, six. LOL!
My favorite childhood memory was pretending to be mermaids with my sister in the neighborhood pool. We'd dive to the bottom to search for "jewels" and "pearls."
Those were the days. :)

My mom tucking us in at night, lying beside dad and him telling me stories, the first snow of winter, waking up to the smell of breakfast and kvoo on the radio, visits to the dairy queen after church on Sunday night, camp meeting and the smell of hamburgers in the air, kneeling down at night for prayer and my dad kneeling over me., going to Grandma's house for sunday dinner, me and my sister singing at night when we were in bed and dad hollering at us to "quiet down", my mama rocking me and singing all kinds of songs about "buelah land". I could go on and on, My dad passed away in 2004 and everything I remember about him is a"good memory"even the spankings!!! I had a wonderful childhood. Thank you Jesus (and mom and dad)

It's a smell from some tree or bush - elusive and gentle. I still smell it in certain places but can't for the life of me track it down.
