Yeah, just wondering because either my wife has a lot of symptoms that run parallel with a pregnacy or there are a lot of tests that come back with a false-negative... Any good reccomendations? Any advice?

Home pregnancy tests are most accurate on the first day your next scheduled period is due to arrive. Any sooner and chances will be that the pregnancy hormone levels won't be high enough for a clear and accurate reading.

First-morning urine should be used, because that's when the hGC levels are at their highest (because she hasn't been drinking while you're asleep, so the urine isn't diluted). If she keeps getting negative results but her period is late or doesn't arrive, wait a few days and retest, or schedule an appointment with your doctor for a blood test, because some women never exhibit a high enough hGC level in their urine to read for a positive result.

They are quite accurate, but she could be getting a false positive because she is testing too early! For the record, I didn't get a positive for either of my pregnancies until 4 days after my missed period! If she really has the symptoms, I would recommend seeing an obgyn to get a blood test... it is a lot more accurate because some women just do not carry a high enough level of hormone to pass through urine! The blood test is simple, and you'll know generally within 24 hours! Good luck, and I wish you both the best!

hpt are 99.1% accurate. Try clear blue digital it tells you whether you are pregnant with writing you don't have to guess what the line mean. Tests do come back with false negatives, it is more common than a false positive. It really doesn't matter what brand or price test you buy, if there is pregnancy hormone in your urine is should be picked up by even the cheapest test. I have only ever used a cheap test and have never had a false negative or positive, and I have been pregnant 4 times, but sadly miscarried twice. But luckily have two beautiful children. If you and your wife suspect she is pregnant buy a test and do it after she would have missed her period just so the test will be more accurate.
Good luck, hope you get the result you are after.

False-negatives are common and usually due to not taking the test correctly or taking it too early.

USUALLY if she's experiecing pregnancy symptoms, her HPT will be positive. Once those levels are high enough for her to notice symptoms, those levels are high enough for a HPT to pick up. She could be sensitive, but because so many of the symptoms are matched with PMS symptoms, it's hard to know until a missed period.

It takes 2 weeks for symptoms to begin to show and a possible + HPT, and it takes at least 4-6 weeks before any morning sickness sets in.

unfortunately alot of pregnancy symptoms are the same as PMS symptoms. The best way to tell if she's pregnant is a positive test. I took answer brand test which worked great, but this website peeonastick.com has alot of info on MuI levels in pregnancy tests, and good brands.

PMS and pregnancy symptoms are EXACTLY The same. She can be late for any reason under the sun, and the hormone fluctuation that caused it, or is caused by it (depending on the situtation) causes those symptoms.

Also, if she thinks she's pregnant she's have every symptom there could ever possibly be.

Home tests arent very accurate. I would recommend that she go to the doc and have a blood test done. Blood is so much more accurate than urine. Good Luck

A doctor could tell you for sure. Do a blood test. Or wait a couple of weeks and do another test.

Some people have some symtoms right away. Some only have nausea or breast sensitivity...have her go to the doc and get a blood test.
