This is easiest if you convert the dimensions to improper fractions:

Multiply numerators across, and denominators across to get:
15

Make it back into an improper fraction:
3 3/4

So you need an object that is 3 3/4 sq. inches. An easy way to do this would be to measure an object that is 3 3/4 inches wide and 1 inch long.
