Christopher Columbus had a charter to explore the world for new cultures that could be converted to christianity. God blessed his efforts. He claimed that for his voyage to the new world he did not rely on mathematics, maps,or intelligence, but was guided by the Holy Spirit of God as revealed in the book of Isaiah. He was a good sea captain but not a good governor. He was appointed governor overhis carribean findings but could not control the inquisition that followed him there. They killed an estimated 100,000 natives in the new world in less than 11 years. He was held responsible for this and was escorted back to Spain by a marshal who bound him in chains.
