Well, opinion's are an annoying part of being rational and intelligent. your mind starts making an opinion before it gets all of the information and this affects your mood. I simply ask myself these questions when I see something doubtful or something that i disagree with:
Is the news report itself biased?
What Is my opinion on this?
Is my opinion affected by my mental habits?
Is my opinion fair?
Do I have all of the Information?
these usually work. thanks.

My political views distort my objectively, but I am still more objective than people who are unaware their views are distorted. I am open minded enough to be persuaded but usually I am not. I rarely hear anything new about politics and will not listen to he repetitive points that people want to make thinking they have just discovered sliced bread.

No - the News is pre-distorted to catch the fancy of each political side.
For instance - the US Census Report on Earnings.
Cons read the article that says household earnings are up.
Libs read the article that says HOUSEHOLD earnings are up because more members have to work and hours per household have increased while avg earnings have been falling for years.

I try to look at both sides of the argument. The more opinions I see on here though I have come to the conclusion people are delusional about their political party and their hand in the mess this country is in.

I try to listen to all sides and form my opinion on facts and not emotion. Also I look at where these facts are coming from to be assured they are not distorted.

Only "God" is objective. We all have our biases, and many of us have political biases. To be on a path of open mindedness we need to hear many view points; only then we can sense and filter out the agenda.
I am some what open to criticism.

It's difficult not to be biased when you have a certain ideology but I really try to look at all sides. I don't allow TV and commentators to influence me and do a lot of research on my own.
I had asked a question about an hour ago and made it a point to let people know that the link I had supplied was an editorial I also encouraged them to do some research on their own.

One of my friends told me he got along much better with his bosses when he learned to say they were open minded rather than saying they had a hole in their head.
Criticism is OK when it is constructive using facts and debate. What I usually see here is name calling, finger pointing, but very little solution offering.

No they do not distort mine because I have friends on both sides of issues that I listen to before making my final judgment.
