I know Jimi, but some say it's Clapton, so anyone think Clapton over Jimi, or just some one else?

I think it's Jimi. I think Clapton, Frank Zappa, and Jim Morrison should certainly not be ignored, however.

Well, I have always prefered Eric Clapton. I know Jimi Hendrix was good, but I love Clapton's style. Peace!

I am assuming you mean rock guitar player. If it was Jazz it would have to be Wes Montgomery. If it was classical, Andres Segovia. I would say Jimi Hendrix was the most innovative. Eric Clapton, the most consistent guitar player.

Jimi Hendrix. There are many, many, guitar players that are and were much better than Jimi, technically, but for pure virtuosity, it has to be Jimi Hendrix.

I once read where someone (I don't recall who) once said that Jimi may not have always played the "correct" notes on his guitar, but that they were ALWAYS the "right" notes.

Carlos Santana for one.

Dickey betts for another. Did you know that Dickey did most of the guitar work Clapton often gets credit for? Remember ''Layla''? That's dickey!

Ronnie Le Tekro is one of my favorites... Who the best guitarist of all time is, is impossible for me to tell. Good musicians doesn't get that much attention in this day and age. To much synthetic music out there still... The 80Th's still haunts the music industry I guess. I bet you can still find people with hockey hair working at major record labels... No joke!
