If it was up to me I would trade Manny in a heart beat. He is useless half the seasons. His little girlie aches (no offense to the ladies here) and pains are not worth what he is earning. he can't be trusted because of a hangnail or his hair is not done right.
A- Rod is a good player but he'll pull a Manny because he doesn't want to be here. Let the Devil Rays take him if the yanks let him go.

manny only has 1 year (through 08) remaning on his current contract with the RedSox. I think they will try to trade him again like last off season when he almost went to the Giants or Dodgers. He does come at a price though. As good as he is i think it will be hard to move him. He has a huge salary (appx 17.5m), he gets "hurt" wayyy too much, and the sox will probably want a vet. and a prospect or 2 if they're desprite. I dont think he will be traded although the front office may throw his name around a little. The chances of A-Rod becoming a member RedSox is very un-likely. If he dosent opt-out at the end of the season like he says he will, he probably wont sign with the RedSox, even though they are pretty much the only team in the league who could afford him. If he dosent opt-out, the Yankees wont trade him with the monster 07 hes having. Even if they did trade Alex, the redsox would have to give up more than just manny for him, which i dont think would be worth it. Plus, im sure Alex Rodriguez has a no trade clause in his contract and most likely wouldn't ok the boston trade.

Isn't ARod a free agent at the end of this season anyway? We may end up with ARod, but it won't be via a trade for Manny. He could be dealt somewhere else in the off season though, but the Sox won't get much in return. It would just be a salary dump.

For the person who said A-Rod will never play in Boston: Get a grip. The guy is going to go to the highest bidder. That's the kind of guy he is, plain and simple.
Asker, to your question I say yes, absolutely without a foubt. Get rid of Manny. He's so lazy out there in left field. And where the hell is he right now? I understand the guy is hurt but he seems to miss a huge chunk of the season every year!

Jacoby is a massive improvement over Manny, offensively and defensively, always hustling and always getting on base and driving runs. I feel like he won't be put back down to the minors anyway, regardless of manny's return.

So many uninformed "fans" here. Badmouthing Manny after 1 bad year? Wow.

Look at is numbers, he's 1 of the best run producers in the history of the game.

Ellsbery is a nice YOUNG player, but should never be mentioned in the same breathe as a future Hall of Famer.

Uhm, the Red Sox definately wouldn't trade Manny within the same division so that wouldn't happen. And on top of that, to New York? Any other unrealistic trades? Like maybe, Josh Beckett to the Yankees for the Babe Ruth statue in monument park?

you can not trade for a-rod, the yankees have said they would not trade him. if he declares free agency, the the red sox could sign him as a free agent. but boston is barking at paying manny 20 million a year, and i dont think they will pay a-rod 35 million a year, so a-rod on the red sox is not going to happen.

in view that they traded him, the purple Sox have been prevailing notably much daily, too. Manny had become a distraction in the clubhouse, he become divisive on the gang and he become going to be a loose agent. Had they stored him, they might have had to placed up with all of his antics, his pouting and loafing because of the fact he did not prefer to be there, and then after the season they might get not something for him. In that gentle, the commerce looks in basic terms a splash a no brainer. It hasn't harm them this year, and it has helped them for the destiny.

Why on earth would either the Yankees or the Red Sox agree to such an exchange of star power? Are Red Sox fans really that arrogant? Or do they really just lack any baseball common sense?
