I'm highly interested in what people of all different cultures, ages, and races have to say or what their opinion is on racism!
For instance,
Had anyone heard about the rascist acts in a school in Louisiana?

Whenever I hear about racism it is between blacks and whites. Not between blacks and Hispanics or Hispanics and whites or between any other races.

I believe it is slowly going away but there are obviously still people who practice it. The white kids with nooses....very bad. The black reaction...very bad. I do think the legal system can be somewhat objective so I hope the right amount of punishment is handed out without it being extreme either way.

I do find it rather disappointing that the old school evangelists (Jackson and Sharpton) found it necessary to use the Jena incident as a stage for their own ambitions. I was glad to hear many blacks say it was a friendly get together and they met some very nice white people. That tells me we have made a lot of progress.

I only recognize one race.
It's called the Human Race and encompasses a huge array of modifications, differences and configurations.
I am also from Louisiana and I think the situation in Jena is way overblown and is more a 'clique' issue than a racist one.
Please keep in mind that kids in school are generally teenagers and teenagers will usually do stupid things that seem like a good idea at the time.

I think humanity is gradually waking up. Very gradually. Some of our members are still pretty sacked out, actually.

Anyway, when I was a kid, overt, open acts of racism were still common. I was born a year before Rosa Parks took her seat on that bus. The world has changed since then. A lot.

We still have a long way to go. Sometimes I think Michael Jordan, such a strong, wise and excellent human being, has done as much for ending racism as MLK.

racism is just people who are narrow minded and feel bad about themselves, the acts in Louisiana go beyond racism, growing up in the 60ty's and what i see today is really sad, this country is going backwards,i am Hispanic and have heard and seen way more then i care to,i personally believe that we all need to find peace with God and then we can find peace with each other and do away with racism,it all comes down to what we are taught as children

Racism, in my obsvervation, is a result of experience, if not training. Racism taught in the home, to impressionable children is a sin worthy of torture. Racism learned through experience and observation is another story. I was not raised to be a racist, derrogatory terms i.e. ******, spick, polock, etc. were NOT tollerated. Now I'm 42 years old. I have learned to believe what I see and experience. Unfortunately, I'm no longer predjudiced, I'm convinced. Look at what happened to the old neighborhoods, once nice places. Open your eyes to the reality, the sorry reality. What is it that you see causing property values to go down? What is it in the demographics of the schools that see crime up, grades down, violence increased? Why did I move from my birthplace? Why did you? Let's not be blind, people. Somethin's wrong. Or is it genetics? Can there be a reasonable explanation? No politics. No programs. No bullshit. God, please open our eyes.

I believe that racism will always be a problem, we just have to be glad that it's not nearly as bad now as it was 70 years ago. I am white, but I have black cousins, gay cousins, and mexican cousins. I don't have a problem with anyone as long as they are nice to me. If I said I didn't like someone and they happened to be a different race, it would be because I met them and didn't like the way they treated me. People do need to realize that no one's race is superior to anyone else's and I kind of feel sorry for them because of their ignorance and closed-mindedness.

Racism by anyone is not only uncalled for but stupid no matter what "race" acts out on it. as for the JENA 6 they are getting the bad end of it as there were racist actions going both ways, sadly all involved learned their actions from their parents and community. Maybe one day if we are lucky, people will realize there is good and bad in every person, race, culture, and country on this earth, and that all were truly created equal. Too bad there are racists in every race. ( for those who don't know the "white" boy was in activities that same night, so he was far from almost killed).

Racism, sadly, is a natural outgrowth of human xenophobia. As primates, we are intensely egocentric. This, by extension, includes the family group and by further extension, those who look like we do. We've made great strides over the past half century or so, and I look forward to spending my final days in a reasonably egalitarian society. We are on the cusp of great social and scientific paradigm shifts. One day, we'll all just be humans making our way into the galaxy.

Sad to say, but although people don't wanna face/realize it, racism is ALIVE and well. Most people may not talk about other races openly or out in public, but when they get home or around their own race, that changes. You're referring to the Jena 6, and the judicial system there is obviously unequal because the white kids only got suspended for hanging nooses under the "white tree" (!) and when a couple of the black kids get into a simple fight with one white kid, they call it attempted murder! Pure craziness. How many kids in our lifetime got into fights (even if one got jumped by a bunch of other kids) and never got convicted of attempted murder?? ALL of them! This never happens, but somehow it happened with those particular kids....

So sad.

Racism should be next to the word ignorance.
There are bad people in the world and their are good people in the world. Nobody whater sex, race, job, etc. etc.
I am caucasion. (just to make a point) but to judge somebody only on their religion, race, background etc. Is absolutley crazy. We should accept each other as humans, who we are inside. Sure we aren't going to like some people, we don't get along with everybody but, to make judgements just by the things listed above it horrible.
