Hmm... My universe is only as big as I assume that it is...
And anything that I can't see for myself is only an assumption (I'm told that the Outer Space is almost endless, and because I happen to believe that, my universe extends at least that far out -- in my imagination, since I've never been to Outer Space).
But "big" doesn't exactly define what's "outside" of us. It also means inside... Quantum mechanics operates on finite scales, and within these tiny areas of measurement, it's believed that multiple dimensions exist -- even black holes so small that they can pass between atoms! And who knows where those black holes, worm holes, and dimensions lead to?
...So, if I believe they lead "somewhere" then I can say that my universe is still bigger (smaller?) than the whole of what's "outside" of me put together!
...But what about time? Einstein said that there is neither a past, nor a future, but only a continual PRESENT!
If that's the case -- and it seems to be -- (being that perhaps time is just a construct of the brain; an illusion of the mind to organize things it encounters) -- then my universe extends to the imagined past, and unto the imagined end of time!
I only know what I've experienced directly, and I have faith that it at least seems real... And everything else I know about (George Washington, knights, outer space, atoms, Australia) are things I've been TOLD are to exist...
...And since those things I'm told far outnumber that which I've actually experienced... My universe is composed of things that I assume -- imagine -- to be true.
...So, my universe is as big as my faith in things unseen.

Actually, until just a few years ago, we thought it was only big enough to slow down and begin the big crunch. Now it appears that it will never slow down and galaxies will get so far away from one another they will be invisible. If an intelligent species were to survive until then, they would lack the evidence we have for a big bang. They will develop theories, based upon their evidence, that would explain a single group of aging stars. It is going to get very cold.

Big enough. But I think it's getting somewhat overcrowded with people here below and space junk up there. If it goes on like this there simply won't be room for all of us. So I suppose, sadly, it simply isn't big enough for humans. Which may mean we will have to go. Long before space travel is practicable - and there's nowhere so lovely anyway. So that, said John as he pulled his waterproof boots on, is THAT!

How "vast"? How finite, or infinite?
When the world was flat, da da, da da, da da......
Infinity to the linear mind is incomprehensible.
My "universe/s" aren't measured by limited human concepts/measurements, but intertwined circles in a sphere, evolving for eternity. Everything is interconnected. Beautiful!

my theory is that all of space is actually in a box, and one day we're going to run into a wall somewhere out there in space, and we'll discover that our universe is actually in a box, and this box is in some little kid's toy chest in another dimension.
