According to Sports Illustrated, the Big Ten is 6th, under ACC (5th).
Yea, it's pretty sad that the Big Ten is even down below 3rd, pretty embarrassing. Any opinions?

i agree with the first poster, the ACC is definitely the dominant basketball conference, in the last 5 or 10 years.

They are going by the upsets in the conference. The Big Ten has had some stellar upsets, look no further than Michigan, and of course the bottom of the Big Ten with Minnesota, and Northwestern losing to sub par teams that they should have beaten. The ACC is also a larger conference, which helps people forget about the steep drop in talent after Va. Tech, G. Tech, BC, and FSU. The Big Ten is looked at as being a OSU, and Michigan conference, you hear it every year if a team doesnt play those teams sports writers will say they have had a great year but they didnt play OSU or Michigan this year so how good are they really. If PSU, and Wisconsin can run roughshod over the league that perception might change but I doubt it. The Big Ten looks pretty strong this year, you have Wisconsin, PSU, Purdue, IU, OSU, Iowa, and MSU probably going to bowls with at least 2 going to big games. Its a strong conference.

If Miami, Virginia Tech and Florida St. were what they were 5 years ago then yep, the ACC would be better than the Big 10. But now its just a group of mediocre football teams waiting for hoop season to start.
The Big 10, on the other hand, is pretty much what its always been: two, three or four good to great teams every year (which recently have shifted between Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan -- although not this year! -- and Wisconsin) with a bunch of weak to average teams rounding things out. One reason it never seems like the Big 10 is too good is that the top teams inevitably beat up on each other, especially with the uneven conference scheduling, and (in these days when you pretty much have to go undefeated to have much chance of being champs) keep each other from rising too high in the rankings. Still, you can always rely on there being a handful of good teams in the Big 10, something that you can't do in the ACC.
(Of course, the bottom of the ACC and the bottom of the Big 10 are about equally dreadful. The difference is that there are a few Big 10 schools that at least once up on a time had pretty good runs -- Iowa in the 50s, Michigan St. in the late 60s, Illinois and Purdue on and off through the years -- while the ACC cellar-dwellers really never had much of a reputation.)

Off year for the Big-10. The much touted Wisconsin team hasn't lived up to the hype. The Big House is a little house this year. Buckeyes aren't as dominant as they used to be. One caveat : Penn State looks good. Historically, I'd say the Big-10 is a powerhouse conference but the teams in the Big 10 aren't doing what we're used to see them doing to other conference teams. ACC surprised me this year with some serious teams. Boston College will give any team trouble and Clemson looks mean and nasty with Spiller and Davis. It's just an off year...
Hey, at least be grateful Notre Dame is not a Big 10 team. LOL.

Heck son in the experience that your attempting to coach a element, 30 or 40 yrs, who cares, flow to the beginning up then why a trifling timeframe. yet I surely have found out statics are for individuals disappointed of their communities. there is yet one good consistent application this is Kentucky and each now and then Florida in basketball. vast 10 is a some distance extra suitable convention in Basketball. yet soccer is going in a protracted time. 70's 80's great for the super 10 60's percent10 and SWC.vast (12) yet ordinary the SCE is better than the super 10 in soccer. you are able to not declare Notre Dame. i think of you have a valid element with Archie Griffin yet i think of the l972 USC team replaced into the superb team I ever observed. Did you ever see that team? IF LSU wins they are going to be an exact 2d. through each and every of the ranked communities they beat.

If Riggo says the big ten is better, it must be true. Everytime I see the dude, he is bashing the big ten. Right now, I would say the big ten is third. I would put the pac ten tops and the sec second.
