I'm going to Richmond and Yorktown next month and I've never been there before. I'm looking for some good places to eat for lunch and dinner in Yorktown on a Thursday, and in Richmond Friday. Most of our day will be spent touring Yorktown on that Thursday, while we'll spend Friday touring the Richmond battlefields. I'd like to keep prices cheap to moderate...no more than $15/20 a meal for dinner. We love seafood and pizza if that's any help. Thanks!

When you are in Yorktown, try to go by Pierce's Pit BBQ! It is located off of I-64 on a frontage road. (You can actually see it on the right when you are driving east on I-64, and truckers will often stop on the side of the interstate and walk across to the restaurant.)

Hmm... Visiting the Richmond defenses off of Route 5 (Fort Hoke was my Eagle Scout project!) there are not many choices of places to eat. There are two gas stations with places to eat in them off of I-295. There was the Yahley Mill Grill, but that recently closed and focuses only on catering. There is also an Italian Restaurant in the Food Lion Shopping Center towards I-295 and they do pizza there.

If you head downtown, following Route 5, you will pass the Edgar Allen Poe museum and drive into the Shockoe Bottom area. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from in this area, but there are none that I really recommend in your price range. If you head up the hill to the Church Hill area, across from St. John's Church (Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!) is Acappella. German and Italian. I really enjoy it, but it's in the $15-$25 price range. Driving north from the Tredegar Iron Works is Penny Lane Pub. This is a nice one, some fare in your price range.

If you do decide to swing down to Petersburg (thats a full day trip in itself!) try to track down Kings BBQ. I think it is fairly close to Pamplin Historical Park. (Pamplin is a private civil war site, but it's great!)

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Write this down because i dont know the adress. If you are touring battlefields, you may end up in Hopewell to see "city point" very important battle-- if so, you will be exiting 295 on rt 10. just across the appomatox bridge into hopewell take yur first left, follow the road around about 1/8 mile and near the water you will see alittle seafood resturaunt on yur right. Trust me! excellent food ( i reccommend the clams) and very good prices.
also if yur into pizza, CiCis is a good bet for lunch, like 6 bucks including drink for a.y.c.e. pizza salad and pasta

and since you will be in the neiborhood you MUST see Petersburg national battlefield.(battle of the Crater) The historical significanse makes it well worth the drive
Hollywood cemetary in the city, another huge find. Thers so many soldiers there its crazy, plus like three presidents too
k, tour guide session over. Have fun =)
