Sometimes, i "zone out" in the middle of class or just at home. But when im zoned out, im not daydreaming or thinking of anything at all. i am just looking straight ahead of me, blank-minded. Am i in a natural hypnotic state?

This simply indicates that you are not happy with your life or yourself. Instead of living with regrets of the past, why not set aside time to meditate on how you wish your life to be, then start doing these things. I was going through same thing just recently and decided it was time to make the needed changes. I stopped daydreaming or "zoning" and started "doing." Once you start making the changes within by changing the way you think, then the outer changes are much easier. Have your heard the saying "Heal the mind and the body heals itself?" Well, this is so true. You may have a healthy body now, but without a healthy mind, your body will also deteriate. Self help books and tapes are a great start. Also, while you are surfing the web, there are many free resources out there that will help you learn to focus. Yoga and meditation are awesome in helping you focus. Natural herbs and vitamins are also a big plus. Ginko Bilboa is an awesome herb for the mind.

How about more sleep? Some physical activity in the day makes you sleep better at night. Thinking keep you awake. You just have to time your zoning out. If you really care and have other issues you should look up some of the sites I have under my profle. It's a panacea and sometimes things are to good not to be true, or at least from my experience all this stuff I found out science and many are doing. Oh, there's some on one on hypnosis also.

As your first responder said, you may just be distracted and not thinking. But you might be in a mental state close to a hypnotic state, or in one kind of hypnotic state.

Webster defines hypnosis as:
1 : a trancelike state that resembles sleep but is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject
2 : any of various conditions that resemble sleep

I did that some as a child, but usually in church cause the priest's sermons were so boring.
A psychologist could tell you better if this qualifies as a natural hypnotic state, but it may well be.
It does tell me that you should be good at using self-hypnosis.
It also tells me you may be bored with the class and trying to escape.

No. It's quite normal that you space out. You just are not thinking and getting easily distracted.
