my hermit crab came out of its shell and was walking around and I was wondering if that meant it was going to die?

It probably means it has outgrown its shell. You can buy them at a pet store.

LOL, yes they are weird looking out of their shells, aren't they? Yes, he's probably looking for another shell. Always have a variety of sized for him to "try on". Do you know that Hermit crabs need weekly baths to stay healthy? This and other great care tips can be found here, my fave hermie site:

Dont you worry! It just means that ur hermie is growing big and strong! He has outgrown his old shell, and is now out and about looking for new shell. Go to the pet store, and pick out 3-5 shells. Give him a variety of shells, so he doesnt have to limit his shell choices. Try to do it quickly, because if he is exposed for to long he WILL die. Good Luck, and hope u and ur hermie have many happy years to come!!

It is not going to die, it is probably just time for it to move into a bigger shell. Hermit crabs outgrow their shell, and when they do, they come out of the shell that is too small in search of a bigger shell.

UUUHHH, no. That means that it's just looking for another shell. You should probaly go down to the beach to look for some. It could get very insecure if doesn't get a new shell soon. And sure you can go to the pet store to go get one, but why when you can get one for free at the beach. Unless you don't live near a beach, then you should get one at a pet store.
