Why do people like halo so much?

I am just curious because its getting all this hype and all these huge reviews, when the game is mediocre at best. Is it that the game is just so simple? Is that why Americans like it so much, if that is the case then we really have hit rock bottom. Is it that it just has an American feel to it? Like how people try to justify Harleys as being a good motorcycle. I just don’t get it. I HAVE played both halo 1 and 2 and beat both of them with out even trying. The game its self just was not fun and it was just so easy like special easy, even when I turned up the difficulty. I remember when halo 2 just came out all day I would hear its soo cool so realistic the gun pulled up omg. ... the gun ... pulled up? ... wow how cool ...<(being sarcastic) and then the halo 3 lol remember this "it’s the small things like the foot prints left in the snow" are you people kidding me? PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE BUY INTO THIS GARBAGE!

Hey, guys sorry I ran out of room for the question. I never thought I would get reply’s this quickly. O ya to the first person lol I do not play allot of video games. I AM an outside person. I am a mechanic and go for long trips on my motorcycle. I race my mx bike and I am not on the computer allot because I don’t even have one I am using some one else’s. I play video games with my friends and my older brother was really into them growing up so I got really good at them. So I wonder what one of the two of use has the life? I just wanted to ask because the halo game is over shadowing allot of other games. When it really isn’t better. EVEN as I type this ppl are still ripping on me for asking my question lol. People its just a game. lol I gesso the garbage part really got under your skins. SORRY AGIN. Don't you ppl wonder why you like it? I would like some Intelligent replies. Yes. We Americans like things simple. Haven't you heard a lot of our mainstream music? Compare that to European music. As far as the Harley comment, yes again we Americans like things simple. Harley's are crap, but the social grouping is why people still buy them. Halo is fun, and simple. We like it. Just like the old Arcade games, fun, yet simple. (gameplay wise)

There is also the "buy American" aspect of both.

The story and look of the game is very much like Aliens. The special effects put into each new title. As well as the graphics are always among the best in the business. Yes the market is flooded with FPS now but back in the early days of console gaming choices were few and Halo was the best title. Perhaps the biggest thing it had going for it was the fact that it was designed for a controller, not keyboard and mouse. It was one of the first FPS to have quick responsive controls that lacked nothing from its PC counterparts. Halo 2 is what made online gaming fun for consoles as well which is not a small feat. Being able to and being one of the first titles on a console to create and maintain an online community also paid off in huge dividends. In terms of sales and popularity.

I think Halo is the best game series ever made. I've grown up with it, I've bought and have all Halo game installments except for Halo: Anniversary. Also, I even have several Halo t-shirts and books, and two movies (Halo: Legends and Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn), so as you can see I am a real Halo die-hard fan. Anyways, it's just that Halo is quite a simple game to play, and along with other players online on multiplayer mode, via Xbox Live. In my perspective, nothing can relatively beat Halo, compared to Call of Duty or Star Wars. If you don't like the game, then why buy it anyway? Just don't waste your time and energy on complaining about something you don't like, waste it on something you enjoy.

Anyways, this Halo fan here is waiting for the new Halo game installment to be released within May 2014. Travis out!

When Halo came out on the Xbox it was easily the best first person shooter that had come out on a console at the time. Before that the best shooters were always on PCs. Halo also introduced a lot of play mechanics that a lot of shooters have used ever since. Players also enjoyed excellent muliplayer matches if they were able to link up several Xboxes or use XBox Connect software.

While Halo 2's abrupt ending may have upset some players, including me, the single player game was very solid. However, the multiplayer component over Xbox Live is where this game shined. The game play was excellent, but just as important was the matchmaking system which was able to match up players with similar skill. As someone that has played online multiplayer matches since Quake, this system was the best I had ever seen. No longer were you pinging servers to find good connections, not to mention the skill levels of the players involved could be widely different. Halo 2 also allowed for players to party up or join clans. This all added up to the best multiplayer experience of its generation.

And you said you beat both games rather easily even on hard difficulties. If you did this on the legendary setting, then kudos, you are a fine player.

I honestly have no idea why people like Halo so much. I never cared for it. I've played through both of the first two, as well as playing multiplayer, and it's just a silly game. I find it boring in terms of a FPS. Bioshock beats the hell out of Halo any day of the week, as does multiple other games. Halo markets really, really well, more so than most other video games. It's also the flagship of the X-box, so X-box fans understandably stand by the game more so than most other games. To me, games that innovate intrigue me much more. Halo is nothing in that section, compared to series like Metal Gear Solid. Just another video game, if you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that. I don't buy it.

I like Halo because of the story and the game play and forge. I grew up with halo as a kid. I always enjoyed Halo, I have every Halo except for Halo wars. I'm a big Halo fan and I've always played it. The game play is amazing and in my opinion is better than Call of Duty. Halo is just wow.

In my opinion I think halo is the **** because it is fun as hell to play. My xbox library contains 85 percent 1st player shooter games and out of all of them I prefer Halo. The closest game to halo was republic commando. I have played counter strike, rainbow six, doom3,time splitters,gun, escape from castle Wolfenstein,and alot more, I just cant think of the rest,but Halo in my opinion is the best. When that game came out My buddy and I were up all night playing and I remember us telling each other after this level well turn it off, butt we never did until we saw the sun rising up. We were having so much fun playing it didnt feel like we were playing that long. When I played halo I felt like I was there, thats how into the game I would get. You have every right to say what you feel but I think your wrong and maybe you should try it on legendary if you did then hats off to you if you still thought it was easy.Just remember its all about having fun and halo is fun.

First of all do you own a harley, have you ever ridden a harley, second you seem like the type to play a game on easy or normal settings then complain its to easy, like people that play gears of war say its easy, beat it by yourself on the hardest difficulty in one day non stop play on your first try, you can't can you? If you don't like halo fine thats your opinion, but in voicing your opinion just don't buy the game, its that easy. Find a game or genre you like then play it.
