I have some friends whom don't seem to wear their wedding ring often (but they do not hide the fact they are married) and some friends who always wear their ring.

We've been married 21yrs and I wore it the first couple of years. My military career advanced into jobs that made me shoot guns more, jump out of planes so it wasn't allowed. My wife wears it as a thumb ring and has all the diamonds that she like to wear.

I don't need a ring to tell me that I'm married, nor do I not wear it because I'm looking to cheat. In fact, I was hit on more when I wore the ring. I guess some women think you are safer or perhaps looking for a one night stand without attachment. Just because folks don't wear a ring doesn't mean that they aren't happily married and looking to cheat.

I would think if the ring wasn't important to them in the first place, they just would have chosen not to buy them - otherwise, people usually wear them unless it presents some sort of problem.
I know lots of guys have jobs where they're not allowed to wear wedding rings because it can get caught in a machine & cut off their finger, stuff like that. I've never known a couple to buy rings just for the exchange at the wedding ceremony, then stick them in a drawer. Seems like a waste of money to do it that way.

My wedding & engagement rings have been joined together so they don't come apart. I take mine off to clean them or when going to surgery, etc., where they tell you not to wear jewelry.
I agree with the other answers, if you're going to give each other rings, they should be worn. My husband wears his all the time, but if he did automotive or other work where it would be a hazard, I wouldn't want him to wear it. He could wear it outside of work. I work with electricity, but I still wear my ring. I tend to do more with my right hand, so my left hand isn't as exposed.

I only take mine off when I shower, give my kids a bath (if I remember) or have it cleaned/inspected 2 times a year. I think it's pointless to not wear a wedding ring if your married because it's a symbol of your devotion to your spouse & undying love for him/her. A ring is a line that never ends or continues forever, there is no beginning and there is no end that's why it's traditional to give your spouse a ring when you exchange vows. Think about it...

I think you should always wear your wedding ring. It is a symbol of love and commitment to that one special person in your life. Some people do not wear their rings all of the time because it could be a very expensive piece of jewelry and they are afraid to damage it. In this case I would suggest purchasing an inexpensive substitute.

I almost never wear it, but my husband always does. I'm a biologist, and I work with animals that like to bite at shiny things, so I've gotten out of the habit of wearing any jewelry at all. I try to wear it when I can remember, but most of the time I don't. My husband doesn't care. He knows our marriage isn't based on a ring.

I wear mine about once a month or so. Only to public events and on trips. My husband wears a ring on each ring finger and doesn't take his off. Early in our marriage I never took mine off, then he was joking around and slipped mine off. I cried for hours and even days later. It never felt the same after that. I wanted to be one of those people who never ever took it off. I think when we renew our vows someday I can start over and not take it off.

I JUST got married on Saturday, and I'm wearing my ring all the time, haven't taken it off at all... but this is mostly because it's REALLY hard to get off once it's on! (I had our ringbearer secretly put some lotion on the inside of it for the ceremony so that it would go on without too much trouble!)

If I had a wife (the type of wife I'm looking for) I'd wear my wedding ring always. I'd even wear it while I was sleeping.--I would love her that much!
