I am prejudiced against ignorance.
I love the saying, "If you think education's expensive, try ignorance."

I don't think that a negative feeling about something real is prejudice..it is an informed opinion. I have very strong feelings of disgust with people who hate others for NO reason other than race, sexual orientation, religion, social "castes," (yes, we certainly have castes right here in the good old USA..and if you don't believe me, you are living in another world), political party affiliation, or whatever...when that feeling of dislike is based on nothing but what has been learned from others of the same ilk. I suspect I was born this way, for even as a little kid, I was defiant as hell when told I could not play with black kids...I did play with them, I got scolded a lot, and I played with them more. My father was from the "old school" ...whatever in the hell that school was. I have little or no patience for people like this...and that includes people who spout bible at every turn, yet live a life of judging others as to being sinners. ! Perhaps I AM too old! Hell, who knows.

You gave me a BIG LOL...misspelling the word.(after you talked about "ignorance". Isn't it funny how it always comes back on us???
I wasn't prejudiced...then some black people at work did some horrible things to me....and now it's really hard not to be prejudiced. (If they had been white..I would have felt the same prejudiced against them) I just have a thing against evil people. I feel differently about the ones from the older generations.I have respect for them. But I have no respect for drug people who do evil things to people...just for a laugh...and to show their "power". BEFORE they did this to me...I had respect for them..and even admired them. So , I must have been ignorant about what they were really like. It's too bad that after something like that happens...the whole race gets blamed. I don't know if I blame all of them...I'm just a lot more cautious now. I try to use discernment. I don't believe anymore that "there's a good side to everybody." Not True !!
PS....Why do we only hear about prejudiced against blacks? There are PLENTY of blacks who are prejudiced against whites.

Well lets think about that for a moment.
Ok, This summer I was in Dallas attending the festival thing. After one of the shows we got lost in a fairly poor neighborhood looking for food. It was about midnight, and every place we saw that looked open and service food was crowded with young black guys hanging out. I remember feeling uncomfortable with stopping there, so we moved on. Here is what I was honestly thinking at the time: I have no problem with blacks, they are not different people, this isn't even an issue. But... what if they have a problem with me? That was the justification I had for pussing out and fleeing. I was afraid I would get hassled just for being a white guy.

What you call ignorance, sometimes saves peoples lives.

I have always tried to follow the "live and let live" philosophy. When you say prejudiced , does it mean other races of people? If that is the question ,then no I am not. I am prejudiced when it comes to my grandchildren because I think they are the best kids in the world.

In the areas where people are most frequently accused of "being prejudiced", such as race, gender, sexual identities to name just a few, I find it hard for a person of my age and extensive university education to be "prejudiced". But then, maybe that's my snobbery speaking out. Truly, however, I am cautious of my "not-so-humble-opinions" as I call them. Somehow I feel there's GOT to be some uneducated aspect to that "opinion", but then, as much as I've studied, and now am retired, I feel very comfortable being "politically incorrect", narrow minded, and redneckish. God Bless you.

I try to respect each person on his own merits. On the other hand I am repulsed by some stereotypical behaviors. If that’s prejudiced, than I am guilty.

I hate it when people have this attitude. About anything! I'm a christian, but I don't hate people who don't agree with my beliefs, in fact I get along well with pretty most everyone. It's great to have friends, be open to opinions, and share your life with people who are colourful, have a sense of humour, are intelligent, care for you. no matter of race.colour or creed.

The funny thing is; it is the ones who are riddled with prejudice, that think they are the most intelligent! Now that is just 'plain' ignorance. Which to them is 'bliss'.

Be open to everyone, if you don't agree. Agree; with love, to disagree. And crack open a bottle of wine together. Never know what may happen!

Sometimes i think ignorance would make me happy because I wouldn't realize how messed up this world is. But as far as my prejudices.....none. I like everyone initially. My dislike is given to individuals for a reason...but never to groups, not even the ignorant.
