I have a gas chainsaw that dies after I start it. It will run a few seconds and then dies. I changed the spark plug, changed the gas (40 to 1). Cleaned the air filter. What next? Thanks.

Sorry to say, but it needs to go to a 2 cycle specialist.
The problem is one of two things.
1. There is an air leak in the intake system. Not allowing enough fuel/oil into the cylinder to sustain combustion.
2. The carb needs adjusting for the carb isn't supplying enough fuel/oil.
Both conditions are something that must be addressed ASAP.
If the cylinder doesn't get enough oil it will score the cylinder wall and possibly lock up the engine!

Sounds like the carburetor needs rebuiding. Also there are most likely small fuel lines that run from the tank to to the carb. They probably need to be replaced. There is a filter in the gas tank on the end of the fuel line. That should be replaced. The carb is a diaphram type and over time the diapharm goes south. It is an easy job to rebuild and costs about 15 bucks. There will be instructions in the rebuild kit. Make sure the carb body is clean before you install the kit.

I would try to back out the carb screws about 1/2 turns. This will allow a little more fuel to air mixture.

One of the most common problems with 2 cycle, especially chain saws is a plugged exhaust port. Oil in the mix clogs the screen. Just learned this myself. Good luck.

I had the same trouble and this may sound weird, but after running for a moment it would die. I found that by loosening the fuel cap and allowing more air into the tank, it would run for a long time. I would try this as weird as it sounds.
