yes - but the thing to do is continue being nice. if someone just keeps taking, keep on giving. expect nothing in return, even if you appear foolish. this is true happiness, and everything you give will surely come back to you - you'll see.

remember, if someone does NOT deserve something, give anyway - happily.

Yes I do.

Its the reason I am very particular about my friends, I know alot of people but I would say I only have about 5 good friends whom I trust not to do that to me (well, except one, who often takes the p*ss but I can't resent her as no matter what, she has always been there through all my hard times (not that I've had many, one or two painful splits with partners is about it) with support and advice and even though she takes advantage in a 'give her an inch and she'll take a mile kind of way' I always know that she will be the one to talk me through the hard times - so she is the only one I can forgive for doing it)

I've had people take advantage of my kindness, but I look at it this way-it's their kharma-not mine. I'm not going to stop being kind to people just because there are people out there that might take advantage of me. It gives me a good feeling inside to be kind to people. I wonder how the other people feel.

Yes. And that's exactly why I had to learn who was and who wasn't worth being kind to. I had a so-called best friend who borrowed $500 from me last summer. He never paid me back one dime. I have now all ceased contact with that guy. And I'll be damned if I ever lend anyone more than $100 again. That's the most that I can afford to loose in the future.

It is generally accepted that kind people are frequently taken advantage of. However, one has to remember that people can only do what one allows to be done. The word "no" is there for a reason. If someone oversteps their bounds, use it.

Yes completely. Take take take. I always get taken advantage of and if I stick up for myself then I am mean and that kills me. So I am in a losing situation either way.

Not always abusive, but they will use you given a chance. Being too generous is a weakness and a vice as well.

I used to feel that way, but I was able to get that stuff out of my life.

I still love to help people, but have a much better handle on how and when to do it. Feels great!

peace

Absolutely. I think that it's important to keep doing kind things though. It's rewarding to the actor if he/she really means it. The occasional appreciation is nice, too.

YES!! At work mostly, they always talk to me about doing the dirty stuff because they know I wont say no but they never ask any of my other co workers in my same position to do it.
