This question reminded me of this recent article I read. Here is a paragraph or two.

"We also chatted about being better on faceoffs. Bob Clarke used to go on the ice every years with young players and teach them some tricks to gain leverage on faceoffs.

Richards is bulked up and stronger and told me he thinks it will be reflected in winning more draws this season and getting into the 50% or better bracket.

He also said something we all know about the game: cheating on the draw is enormous.

"You need strength and more experience in the faceoff dot," he said. Against the veterans in the league, the refs don’t give you much leeway.

"You play against a Rod Brind'Amour and you get cheated. That is what faceoffs are about - how good a cheater you are."

Yeah, just ask Bill Belichik. Football? Hockey? Cheating is cheating, eh?"

An inch or two more accurate is a huge deal considering how many shots miss because they nick the posts or the goalie.

They can always spike the goalie's water bottle

Illegal sticks ( curved too much)

idk but if you caught w/it it could throw your game off some. I bet nobody is stupid enough to use one during SC playoffs.
