I pay rent after each month to one of my roomate - she is the "landlord" of this condo room, i guess.....

Did I had to pay before the month started? or after the month was over? or was it all up to US to decide?

Rent is ordinarily paid in advance. However it is up to the parties to decide if they wish to do it differently. Paying rent in arrears is highly unusual; don't get used to it!

It sounds like your roommate is also the owner of this condo. If that is true, then your payment plan is whatever you two agree upon. Usually, tenants pay their landlord in advance. However, in a roommate situation, it usually is a verbal agreement between the parties. You guys should have created a written contract at least, but that's up to you guys. It's a little after-the-fact now.

Traditionally you pay for rent before it is due. Mortgages are paid after the interest is due. That is why, often times, when you are a renter and you purchase a home, you have 30 -45 days without a rent or mortgage payment.

Normally move in consists of 1st month , last month and security deposit .

Then , landlords get paid for the next month you will be there , sooo ,
You pay Oct 1st for the month of Oct .

Letting it slide until the end would be the dumbest of landlords only .

It is overlying custom to pay at the start of the month fopr the month you are about to stay in - in other words with your deposit.

I know of no landlord that accepts payment at the end of the month for that month.

rent is always paid at the beginning of the month, not the end - never heard of anyone doing that
