I remember a great story that you'll get a kick out of!
When my 2 girls were little, (early eighties, I think it was) i remember one Christmas when Cabbage patch dolls had just caught on in popularity, and they couldn't be found anywhere....
Well......my wife and her mother were out Christmas Shopping at J.C. Pennys, and just happen to be there at the right time when the truck was commiing in with some Cabbage patch dolls....
The store personell were trying to stock them, when all of the sudden MAYHAM broke out, and women (not men!!) started pushing, shoving and fighting with each other trying to get these dolls.....
My wife came home with a ripped blouse and her mother had a big red mark on her face where someone had "brushed up against her", ......BUT : They had 2 CABBAGE PATCH DOLLS!!!!
True Story!!!

No Beanie Babies or Elmo, we tried to get my daughter a Cabbage Patch kid before they got real popular and she didn't want one. Later on, I think she got one as a gift from someone. She really liked the Simpsons though.

I like Elmo, but I don't like to follow most trends. Cabbage Patch babies are ugly to me and I couldn't afford to buy Beanie Babies when they came out.

Yes ,my daughter had a cabbage patch doll, actually two . The first one was before Christmas and I refused to make a fool of myself by lining up at 5am for a darn doll, Well it just so happened that my neighbour worked in a toy store. She called one day and said a shipment had come in and did I want one. We were able to get the exact one my daughter wanted. We thought it was a nice idea because we had adopted our daughter when she was 3mos old and the "cabbages" came with adoption papers. The second one was a newborn with a soother. She called them Gloria and Jeffery and we still have them and her two girls played with them as well.

i never had any of them - somehow missed the timing for them all. i was too old to want one when cabbage patch kids and beanie babies came out and don't have any grandkids so didn't have to worry about the elmo thing either.
i do have one beanie baby - can you guess which one?
if you guessed tracker the basset hound you were right
my sister gave it to me for my birthday one year

Nope and my daughters never had Barbies. They never asked for them. If they had,I suppose we would have gotten them. The kids were into piano, guitar and flute lessons. They liked riding bikes and roller skating. They're all adults now and dont seem to have suffered from Elmo deprival.
