That's hard to say; this has been controversial for many years. But I do recall a photo in a magazine many years ago where a man was standing in a field under a 300 kilovolt power line pylon holding a small florescent lightbulb. The photo was taken at night, and although there was no obvious power source (at least not an electrical cord plugged in somewhere), the bulb was lit!

Apparently there was enough electricity in the air to cause the bulb to glow. I don't think I'd want to live that close to a high power transmission line. Not only that, you walk under those things and you can literally hear the juice crackling in the lines!

I think so. There have been reports, verified by news crews from the 80s about brain tumors in kids and such. The stories were about living next to the high power lines, not the general town poles.

Who knows what happens to the body when exposed to that type of EM field. Just like everything else...its ok, its not ok, its ok (eggs, cellphones, computers, global warming...)

Every house has power lines next to their house. Or else your house wouldn't have power.

You're less likely to be struck by lightning - they hit the power lines instead.

And your electricity is really *fresh*.....
