We've ALWAYS had a jar on the counter because I discovered, shortly after opening business: there are some people who do not want pennies, nickels and dimes.
All the monies collected go to a local non profit organization. At the end of the year, the organization sends us a certificate stating the amount of change the customers donated.

I don't know..."maybe" you're in a small town because the big cities add the tip to the bill. Everywhere I go I see the disability jar on the counter.

Those are tips for the good customers. Next time you're there, and you've been really nice to the clerk behind the counter, go ahead and reach in and get yourself a dollar.

That's how management feels ok about paying minimum wage. They say "oh its not that, bad you get tips". But then no one tips. So tip the people.

the economy is hurting and young people in retail and such jobs need the extra cash to get by!
I totally understand and have always been a tipper but I also do think its getting a bit out of control. LOL but inevitably I understand. :)

I don't know for sure...
But I suspect it has something to do with the "minimum wage" denial our whole society is in...
Let's pay those poor bastards a decent wage, shall we?!?
Or cough it up, bi tches...
