Yes, what the Black kids did was wrong. You do not solve violence with violence! So they need to be punished. However, there have been six, yes, SIX other incidents that include WHITE ON BLACK VIOLENCE!!! What I don't understand is why you charge one but not the other. That is the basis of the whole case, not trying to get them off. The black kids deserve to serve time, but not 22 years for something that had been done to them multiple times by other people who got a tap on the wrist. I don't mind if you don't support them, but do you see the logic in charging one with attempted murder, but not charging the other when they did the same thing?

Vicky Butters: I don't but when I see people like you, I almost understand why other people do.... Meditate on that for a second.

you are right in saying you don't solve violence with violence. violence only begets more violence.
i heard what started it in Jena was those nooses hanging from the tree...and while that might not be against the law there, it ought to be. i took that for a threat of bodily harm. a promise of violence to come. and that is wrong. evil.
but for six or seven guys of Any race to beat up one guy of Any race is also very wrong. cowardly. evil.
nobody is winning in Jena...or anywhere these sorts of crimes occur.
and no, i don't think the Jena 6 should have been charged with attempted murder. assault, yes. i understand that it was all racially motivated, all hate-crime related. six attacking one is just never going to seem right to me. neither is hanging nooses from trees. the whole thing is just appalling.

Honestly, I don't see logic in charging any of them with attempted murder. Sounds like it was more like assault to me--I don't think they meant to kill the guy! I mean, he wasn't even all that injured--I heard he went to a party the same day, later on after he was beat up. And I don't understand why they're charging these guys as adults--aren't they in high school? I don't know how old they are--I guess some of them could be 18.
You're right--I hate it when one person gets totally different punishment for the same act as someone else does. I think they should get some punishment, since we can't have everybody going around beating each other up, but I would say the same thing regardless of their race. And 22 years? Come on. Rapists don't get that much time!! Jeesh.

It has sadly been a bias in the south, which I am not too proud to live in. If asked If I see a person as black, white, hispanic, asian, etc. then yes., but do I care, no. I base my impressions on who the person is and not what the person is, it's sad that even after so many years racism survives, I guess some sort of bias always will. If you sometimes look at infants, they dont look at the color of a persons skin, they look at a smile, a face, a friendly voice, nothing more. why can't society get a grip and try that out for a change.

So, you're sixteen years previous and characteristic all this discovered because of the fact you're knowledgeable. i think it is the comparable age as those boys. Are you asserting that they've been too ignorant to comprehend the adaptation between perfect and incorrect because of the fact they weren't 18 years previous? How did you get plenty greater education on your sixteen years than all of those boys? Do you suspect because of the fact you experience which you're greater mature and knowledgeable than the difficulty-free sixteen 12 months previous that in case you committed this variety of criminal offense which you will desire to be tried as an grownup? Did the racial ingredient come into play while the nooses have been hung? i do no longer think of so. i think of it began while between the black pupils asked if he ought to sit down down under the tree understanding that this spot replaced into traditionally occupied by employing white pupils. What replaced into workforce meant to inform him? They advised him that he ought to sit down down everywhere he extremely joyful. yet why did he decide to sit down down THERE? i think that his purpose replaced into racially inspired and had to stir racial tensions. I grew up 12 miles from Jena interior the small city of Olla. I lived in Jena for various years yet I now stay in North Carolina. I rather have worked for the detention center device in the two Louisiana and North Carolina. If an inmate assaults me, I rather have the excellent to shelter myself yet basically till resistance stops. actual you do not have faith it is okay to knock somebody out and proceed beating them fairly having 5 different accomplices assisting you. those boys have discovered no longer something yet that in case you have dark epidermis you may get by employing with committing crimes and in case you do no longer then you definately have been discriminated against. they might get out of their modern capture 22 subject yet i will incredibly much assure you that those boys would be convicted of different crimes in the past they attain 25 or could have been killed interior the technique of committing yet another crime. i'm no longer advocating that what the white pupils did as perfect yet on the comparable time i'm no longer able to work out those boys getting off scott loose the two. All this protest did replaced into to greater alienate those 2 races.

Wasn't this about the treatment of the one guy who has an extensive record already?
If so, throw the book at him and treat the first time offenders as school fighters. We had those all the time when I was a kid.

You go girl! They didn't charge those whites with attempted murder for beating that black boy with a bottle just prior to the nooses (the hate crime) and the subsequent beating the klanner boy took for opening up his big mouth.
Hate begets hate. That's all I have to say. If you want to hate, expect to be hated back.

what six other incidents are you talking about?
are you talking about the incident where a kid got his gun from a truck after being taunted by THREE black students, then wrestled to the ground, and his gun stolen from him. the black guy who took the gun DIDN'T call the cops but TOOK the gun home.
or are you talking about the party incident? Bailey went to an UNIVITED party and DEMANDED he be let in. this resulted in a fight with bailey and his FOUR friends and other white party goers. NO BOTTLE WAS USED!
NOW WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE SUPPORTING SIX CRIMINALS FOR?
OH BTW.....BARKER, WHO WAS JUMPED AND BEATEN BY THOSE SIX CRIMINALS WASN'T INVOLVED IN THE NOOSE PRANK, WHICH HAPPENED MONTHS AGO.

no double standard should exist your correct. if in fact there was another similar act commited by white kids then they should also be charged however if so then i believe other charges of racial intimidation and hate crimes should be filed against both sides

It was the cowardice of six on one which was unacceptable, previous black on white violence had I believe led to black injuries and white victory hence this dispicable crime.
