I've been dating my "forever-sweetie," Alex for about three months. We've always liked each other since we were little, but neither of us would come clean. Last night he calls he about four times, (which is very unlike him) and he asks me, "Do you think we are working out?"

"Yes, but the question is, do you?" and he replied with a simple: I do sometimes, and others not so much.

I knew it was down-hill from then on. =/
Then I say, "So, is this it then?" and he says, "I guess." and then I tell him that I need to go and right before I hang up, he slings out the ole, classic line, "But can we still be friends?" and I camly but solemnly say, "Sure; whatever makes you happy...."

From 9:30 p.m. to about 2:00 a.m., I cried. But I'm not sure what I should do, because it's not I can just forget about him because I go to church with him. His parents and my parents are almost closer than me and Alex...

Advice please!!

You haven't given your age. You have, however, revealed that you attend church so I am assuming you have faith in God. Simply put this matter in His capable hands and ask Him to take away your pain. He will bring the right person to you if you allow Him to lead your life.

Having to see this person at church each week won't be easy, I realize. All I know is that time will help you heal and if the two of you are really meant to be together, nothing will prevent that from happening!

Don't contact him in any way. Give him the space he obviously needs. Hopefully things will work out in a way that isn't too painful for you!
