Not all--but obviously the religous right does--or at least the eqivalent where Bush is concerned.

I'm sure many of these people are sincere and are just repeating what hey've been led to believe by unethical pastors and political leaders. I don't think they realiize how fundamentally unAmerican that attitude is.

And it is. The whole concept of America--in this regard --is based on the work of the Enlightenment philosopher John Locke, whose 2 Treatises on Government were the basis of the English "Glorious Revolution (1688-89" in which they rejected the idea that a ruler had some sort of authority from God simply because he occupied a high place of power.

The Founding Fathers were absolutely clear on this point--the authority of the government--and hence the head of state--comes from the people---not from God. As a sidebar--this was not an irreligious concept--they were also very clear tht the people should base their choices on Godly and moral principles.

But there is no getting around it--the whole concept of America--its whole heart and soul--is fundamentally opposed to giving carte blanche to anyone--saint or sinner--because they hold high office.

Conservatives honor or BRILLIANT Founding Fathers. They amazed the WORLD when they refuse to make themselves KINGS and gave us a Constitution and a Bill of Rights to keep the power of government in the hands of the citizen and SEVERELY limit the power of the Federal Government.
So WHY do you Pinko Libs constantly want to confiscate the power of the citizen through promoting HIGH TAXES, BIG Government, gun control, restrictions of free speech, elimination of property rights, and constantly promote the devaluation of the value of a vote by promoting ILLEGAL voting?
YOU, as usual, accuse Conservative of doingn the dishonest things YOU have perfected.
