Am i simplifying this equation correctly?
d= vt + 1/2gt^2 for v = 0 m/s

g= 2d/t^2

can this formula then be used to calculate g?

Certainly. Go up a building of known height, get out the stopwatch, drop the anvil and time its fall. Then apply your formula, which is correct.

yes it would be simplified into g=(2d/t^2)-(vt/t^2) and since v = 0 m/s, g=2d/t^2
