"While our patent system is in need of reform, we are very concerned that the bill in its present form picks winners and losers among industries with different business models in a way that has never before been attempted in patent law or practice," wrote the Republican leader, John Boehner of Ohio, and the party whip, Roy Blunt of Missouri.
Republicans voted against the bill.

"The Bush administration argues that such an approach "would introduce new complications and risks reducing incentives to innovate." "

Encouraging individual accomplishment, innovation and creativity are at the very heart of conservatism. Those are the traits that contribute to a person and a society being productive, strong and economically viable. Liberalism encourages people to depend on government because liberalism deems them unable to make choices for themselves, therefore they need government to care of them. The object of keeping them dependant is political power.

I would think that all the tax breaks the republicans voted for themselves would put them in the column of living off the government. They use tax payer's money to start these businesses a lot of the time and when a single college student has a higher tax burden than what a major corporation pays as thier minimum tax there is something wrong.

The question embodies an invalid premise because Democrats are better educated and better 'wired' to technology trends. Remember -- Young Republicans are neither. Old Republicans just suck off the intelligence and effort of others.

You have two completely different subjects trying to come to some sort of conclusion. Just to address the first part, Your statement is utterly ridiculous. Just because someone is a Liberal does not mean they may not be a great mathematician, chemist, artist, or inventor. Your assumption has no merit and is unworthy. You lower the standards for debate.

Where did you come up with that. Look at the south where most of the welfare families come from. They aren't Democrats. read below...
Legacies of 1996-2000
In August 1996, President Clinton signed into law the Personal Opportunity and Work Responsibility Act, which replaced Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) with Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). This legislation limited aid to sixty months in a lifetime; required work activities; prohibited legal immigrants from receiving Food Stamps and Social Security Insurance (SSI); required teen parents to live at home or with adult supervision; and limited food stamps for "able bodied," single, unemployed adults to three months every thirty-six months. They aren't. Most patents come out of universities and large PUBLIC corps these days where cooperation of multiple disciplines is necessary - the days of the guy in his garage are passing very quickly - plus the wealthiest and most accomplished entrepreneurs tend to be liberal. Gates and Buffett are two excellent examples

We're smarter and that's why we're richer. Knowlege is power. Don't listen to those libs either. They are just jeolous and will likely use the excuse that Republicans are liars and more corrupt. Republicans are, don't do it for me, I will do it myself. Dems are, why aren't you doing this for me? They would have the government wipe there a*ses for life if they could.
Don't listen to those who are using Gates and Buffet as examples. Democrats are seen as more for the lower class so why wouldn't they be Dems if a majority of the people working for them are in fact middle to lower class factory workers who are also Democrats. Its all politics.
