Sure...why not? A person will be who he is regardless of the name. Alec reminds me of Alec Baldwin the actor - I have always liked his movies and he is hilarious on 30 Rock.

I have a friend named "Aleksander" and he goes by Alek. Aleksander sounds like uhh-lick-sander by the way. I love the name I think it's great =)
