I just think that, the kid should have been punished but not sent to jail. There were other white kids who also assaulted a black boy before this incident even happened. No charges were brought against them. Both parties should have had the same punishment for fighting and attacking each other. It's all very sickening and stupid. Racism still exist in this country, and while we are focused on race, we are taking our eyes off of more important things like Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda.

Well, guess what I just found out about this story. We have not been told the truth, the whole truth or noting but the truth, We have been, once again, fed a bunch of spin by the media. Are you surprised? Here are a few facts that seem to have been omitted in this story.

The nooses tied to the tree did happen. However, it happened three months ago and the kids that did it were punished. The noose story had nothing whatsoever to do with the white kid who was beaten up. This Michael Bell, the black kid 16 year old this was all about is a far more interesting character than we have been told.

He has been arrested numerous times. The last time for assaulting a juvenile female member of his own family. He has been living with a white family because his own family threw him out. The prosecutor was trying him as an adult and deny him bail because he was trying to frighten Michael Bell into straightening out and to have his record follow him at least for this crime after he turns 18. He has been convicted of many violent and dangerous crimes which will all disappear when he turns 18 possibly prompting a future judge from treating this your recidivist as a fist offender.

Sort of changes the perspective a bit does it not?

What totally amazes me is how people are trying to terribly hard to turn this into a race issue.

Lets ignore the colors! Look at the facts.

Six teenager attacked a single teen, knocking him unconscious, then continued to beat him. He spent 3 hours in surgery.

Now, beyond this story it's a bit fuzzy. You listen to the pro-Jena crowd and the story is quite different. But it doesn't divert from any of the facts from the previous paragraph (or have I been misinformed?)

OK, so what is it you are asking? Are we supposed to let a teen with a prior assault record to just go free without punishment? No, I don't think so.

Should the other kid accused of ...er, um... what was it he did anyway to justify being nearly killed?? Should he go unpunished also?

Obviously I must be a racist because I dare to stand up and say the Jena 6 need some jail time.

Yep a very big difference between a rope in a tree and a boy beaten till he was unconscious and beyond for what a word if that.

The boy had blindness and a swollen head and still has headaches which of course a doctor can't determine the cause and yet grown people can't understand why they want these poor innocent jena 6 locked up.

If it were me or my kid I'd lock them up and everyone here knows they would too.

Nope I'm not a racist just confused as to why they a white boy getting beaten means nothing while a rope in a tree which hurt no one physically is more important.

Even Martin Luther King 3rd. said punishment of some sort should be in order for the six defendants.

I'm not surprised! As you know anyone besides a mass
murderer or someone that would possibly be an endanger-
ment to society, would get bail. Even if the bail is set
higher. Just another action that confirms that a lot of
racist behavior has festered in that area for years. My con-
cern is that in 2007, how could the rest of the judicial
system set back and let something like this happen. I
think the judge and the DA should be dis-barred. Hitlerism
exist in the Usa just like any other country.

It's upsetting and it's really disturbing to realize that White people have absolutely too much power in America. Everyone has proof that the DA is showing favoritism to a certain group by not giving the same punishment, instead they received a slap on the wrist. With that evidence how can we believe anything about those other charges? I just think White people expect too much from Black people. You provoke someone, you pay for it, but you don't want to suffer the consequences and when someone stands up to you, you have the power to throw their life away. That's not a fair fight. This is White America and they have officially messed up their reputation.

Black women...you really need to watch after your sons.

---

I'm afraid if we really want to fix this problem then we, Blacks, will need to jump 40-60 years back. We've become too integrated with Whites, so this issue will always remain.

well ... the judge just basically spit on the whole rally. but to be fair, the bond hasn't been denied. They just refused to reduce it. If Bell can come up with 90k he can walk.

Which begs the question. Why can't Mos Def, Tyler Perry, or any of the other wealthy blacks who were at the rally get together and bail the boy out. You do get you bond money back, ya know.

this wouldnt happen to be the little angel with priors for battery, would it?

lacedoutmami- one very good reason that people didnt receive the same punishment is that one is a felony, the other is not. Let me give you an example- if my neighbor starts painting swastikas where i can clearly see them, do I have the right to assemble a gang, stalk him, and play soccer with his head? NO

and as for your comment about "too much integration", where the hell have you been, because I havent seen it.

Read your link again. The bond was not denied. After reviewing the case and considering the four previous violent assault convictions on his criminal record, the State Judge refused to REDUCE his bond. Big difference.

I'm not surprised. Racist whites really make me sick. But what goes around comes around and God's hand is going to deal with whites very severally. Watch.
