im building a corner cupboard and thats why i need to know the answer. the traingle is a right triangle and the angle is 90 degrees. the bottom side is 11 1/4 as said before. can you use either sin or cos to find the other two sides or pythagoram therom? some working would help? if not is there any other way the 2 remaining sides can be found?

I assume that corner cupboard is isosceles: at least all the ones that I`ve restored were ! So, the other side containing the right angle will be 11 1/4, and you can find the hypotenuse using Pythagoras` Theorem:

H^2 = (11.25)^2 + (11.25)^2

I`m sure that you can calculate that !

Technically this is Math not physics.

You've given me nothing to work with besides the length of 1 side and the fact that it's a right angle triangle. What is the ANGLE of the other side (the one that isn't 90 degrees). You also need to tell me if this angle is adjacent to the 11 1/4 side when you give me the value.

With a single side and the fact that the triangle has a right angle in it, you can't determine the lengths of the other sides at all without more info.

To find the properties of a right angle triangle you need to know the values of two sides, or two angles or one side and one angle. Knowing which angle is 90 degrees does not count. It is the value of the other two angles which would be of use.

To solve a triangle, you need three elements. You have one angle and one side, so we could suggest answers but there could be more than one possibility.

If the bottom side (11.25") is AB, with angle B being 90 degrees, then you could find the side BC if you knew either angle (B or C) or if you knew the hypothenuse AC.

AC^2 = AB^2 + BC^2

BC = AB * tan(A)
