While eBay recommends Paypal, (which uses credit cards), it is not required. You can choose to sell on eBay and accept checks or money orders. You just have to be very careful. You should specify on your auctions that the items will be shipped after 10 days of receiving the check or money order so as to give enough time for it to clear. You must do this because people may try to write bad checks to get the merchandise.
You can also advertise anything on www.craigslist.com. You can write an ad and include a picture. However, being that you are 16, I would strongly suggest that you have your dad's help with this. Unfortunately, there are too many people out there ready to take advantage of a situation like yours. The help of an adult will reduce that risk greatly.
Finally, I don't think that selling your things in either fashion should be your first option. If you want to sell some things, try a yard/garage sale. I did those when I was younger and was very successful. If you'd like any tips on how to do a great yard sale, just let me know. My address is picklesperson@yahoo.com.
Also, many grocery stores and small burger joints hire people starting at age 16. You could find a part time job that would work around your school hours. Again, this is something to discuss with your dad as you would need his permission.
In any case, I think it is wonderful that you recognize that your dad might need your help right now. Please know, that as an adult myself, I can say that grown ups are never perfect and we all benefit from helping one another. I think your dad should be proud that you are being resourceful to learn different ways you can help.
Finally, I want to congratulate you on being brave enough to ask questions. You will be very successful in your life if you continue learning new things.
Good luck!

Oh my god, I am very sorry for this.
Well, on ebay, you can use a bank account. If you have a bank account you could use that to pay for seller fee's and then use the same bank account to get the money.
But if your the one using ebay, make sure you say your over 18.
Now, if you find a reason why you really need a credit card, what you can do, is go get a gift card creditcard, american express offers one, you go to a big store, like walmart and you give them cash, and they add that same ammont on a card. I did that a few times!
If there's anything I could do, email me.
It will all be good sooner or later!

Kate is right...you could sell on EBay using PayPal and a regular bank account. So, if you don't have a savings account or checking account, open one up.
Or, you can get a secured credit card. A secured card means you open a secured savings account to get the credit card. The initial credit value on the card is the amount of your initial balance.
Or, I 'purchased' credit cards (MasterCard and Visa) for my children (who are in college) at my local CVS drugstore. I purchased the credit cards and 'loaded' them with cash. I can also add cash to it (on-line) whenever my kids need more money. They work like a regular card and even have my kids names on them. However, the cards are only good for the amount loaded on them (work like a debit card).
