Lots of people feel and have felt this way, so take a deep breath and don't worry...You'd be amazed at how much people *don't* say about how upset/confused they feel about their own lives in general - even adults!
If you want to learn more about yourself, I'd recommend trying a couple of things.
First, keep a journal. Try a little free writing...write without thinking or editing yourself for a few minutes. If you do a little writing in your journal every day, you can get a better hold on all the emotions you may be feeling right now. You might notice a pattern, or you might just learn more about the things that make you happy or unhappy.
Find out what you're interested in by trying new things. You could try cooking (even a hamburger! see if you enjoy it!), gardening (even a small pot on the porch), sewing, writing, reading, soccer, tennis, painting...make a list and see where it takes you.
If you're really upset, talking to a family member or a friend may also help.

Get out a piece of paper, and make 2 columns : 'Strengths' and 'Weaknesses'. Fill in as many items in each side as you can, and try to be good to yourself - if you have more items in the 'Weaknesses' side than the 'Strengths' side, force yourself to think of more strengths. If you can't think of any more, ask some friends or family - they are sure to see things about you that you cannot see. Then, when you are done, look over both lists, and see if there are things in the 'Weaknesses' side that you can work on, and look back to the strengths side to see if you have some strengths that can help you to improve. This is a great way to get a snapshot of who you are, and help determine who you want to be. And remember to go easy on yourself - remember, you are a work in progress, and life is a journey, not a destination.

A bit tricky here, because self is defined by what you desire.
If you don't want anything, you don't have a self so there's nothing to know. There is no 'me' to own without desire.
I've included a list here. Pay special attention to #4
The 5 Enlightenments.
The only absolute certainty is the possibility of error.
Change is both inevitable and logical.
The simplest complete explanation is most likely true.
The nature of life is to collect energy, reproduce and defend itself.
All aspects of life develop through Random/Directed Change & Natural/Directed Selection.

Look inside yourself and find out what the true meaning of life is about. What is your purpose on earth? It takes time to find out the answer to this question. Some people go to the grave and don't even know! But make a purpose to your life. And from there, you will know what direction to take and how to get there. And you will discover more about yourself too!

This question is a sign that you are evolving to higher consciousness of human life.
When we become unsatisfied and come to this point in life, God answers our 'prayer' and we develop the path of our soul and begin to discover the ULTIMATE GOAL OF LIFE.
It's true we know nothing of our real self, who is the soul inside the body.
Our real self is eternal, ever-existing, and part and parcel of God. But we are covered with illusion.

If you are of a certain age(young) you haven't started being your own self yet. Why don't you make a list of the things about you, like wants, need, goals, what you have accomplished, who you would like to become and why. Ask yourself " who I'm I "?

You need the Lord. Ask Christ into your life. Read the Bible (New Testament). Pray.
Ask God what to do. Find a good Bible-believing church. I'll pray for you.

we learn who we are as we go through life; not because we are alive. let god do whatever it is that god does, and focus on being you throughout your days; even if you dont know 'who' you are. to steal a quote from garth brooks; "life's a dance you learn as you go..." you know the rest of the words

The fact that you're asking this means you're on the right track.
Hang in there -- it isn't always easy, but it is worth it (I think).
