I have a windows service pack 1 disk from dell and i cannot reinstall becasue they claim that servicepack 1 is lower than service pack 2. please tell me how i can reinstall service pack 1. and then update the computer by installing service pack 2.

You don't need to install SP1. SP2 includes all of SP1 so you are up to date.

to re-install using the disk you have you must first format the hard drive then install windows. after installing windows run the windows update. be sure to select the advanced update option not the express you have to tell it to install the service pack-2 option.

If you are reinstalling fresh, it doesnt matter what SP you have.
If you are trying to reinstall Windows over the current version, it wont, you need to slipstream SP2 into your Dell CD first.
