My father's italian and my mother is Costa Rican. when someone asks me my nationality should i answer something/something?

lol at this stage of my life im interested in knowing my ethnicity.

do i say i am hispanic/european

is european corrext?

I would say I was of Hispanic and Italian descent but my nationality is American.
