Yes, birthmarks in some places, or moles can be quite lucky and makes a person unique.
But long ago, during the Salem Witch Trials, moles, birthmarks and any discoloration of the skin or anything of that sort meant that you were a witch and they hanged you.
They also tested them with water, if they could walk on the water, but not swim they were a witch, this was because it was believed that witches could not swim in pure water. Most died anyway since they were bound in ropes.
Its a good thing nowadays they don't do that..back then they were just ignorant and unknowledgeable and just assumed things..

How do I say this without offending anyone who believes in superstitions?

I think superstitions are a bunch of crap! Am I really supposed to believe that breaking a mirror will give me 7 years of bad luck? That's absurd!

I believe they exist but I think most of them are balderdash. Some may have roots in truth but most of them were created out of ignorance.

As far as moles, unless the superstitions center around them possibly being a sign of skin cancer, then I don't believe them.

Some. When I see a black cat, I cross my back. I don't like the number 13, and the volume on my TV can never be on 13. But that last one might be OCD.....

in all things people are too superstitious, even in the Bible they made an altar to the "UNKNOWN GOD " just to make sure they didn't offend any so called gods.
