I'm going to be helping make costumes for Robin Hood. There is a limited budget available and a lot of kids to dress. Does anyone have suggestions for clothing pieces the kids might already have that could be used or inexpensive ideas for sewing/crafting the clothing and accessories? Thanks!

These 2 sites should be of help to you. The second one will involve some research on your part, but you should be able to find ideas for your project.

Leggings or tights can usually be found for not too much money. Be sure to get heavyweight ones, so modesty is not compromised. For the tunics, if the kids are small enough, adult t-shirts work well. For even smaller kids (ages 2-4 or 5) pillowcases with head- and armholes cut out make great tunics and can be worn over the child's own shirt.

Bathrobes (in good colors) makes good royal robes. Glue some rhinestones -- crafts stores have these inexpensively -- on in suitable places.

Email me for specifics on the friar's robe, if you want, since that one has to have a hood.
