No. the government should stay out of how we raise our children as long as it doesn't harm a child. But I would never bring my child to a horror movie or explicit movie until he or she was old enough. And that age is different for everyone. I am more responsible then my cousin and we are the same age.

What's the difference between horror or explicit movies and religion?
Both are make believe and have potential for lasting harm to a young, impressionable mind.
Besides, kids see way more violence and explicit content on cable TV than any 2 hour movie. Oh wait, did I just give the fundie conservatives some more ammo????

I am with the first answer...this is not a legal issue but a common sense issue. I am not for legislating common sense...wait. If it were required to hold public office..................
...............Nah. We would not have any politicians, and as soon as we elect them, the common sense disappears anyway.
Just...I do not know where you live, but I have NEVER seen laws that prohibit anything less than X rated with consenting adult.
jm...I wish more theatres would prohibit small children, but I have not seen it once.
kippah...you are an ID10T. There is nothing wrong with most religions on the planet. The one exception is that Islam is a hateful and violent religion (I am not talking about radical Islam...the mainsteam is violent, the few are peaceful)

That is not enforceable.
The parents just rent DVDs and show them in the privacy of thier own homes. My elementary age daughter has friends who are afraid to sleep due to being exposed to all the "Chucky" horror movies, and my niece has the disturbing tendency to wear multiple pairs of panties after coming back from weekends with her mother, who allows her to watch....well...everything.

I bet the same conservatives that would have a FIT about being told they can't hit their children would support it.
A law is pretty drastic...most movie theaters won't let them in even with a parent because they are too loud and cause a problem.
I think our government has bigger issues at hand.

no. there's already way too many laws. they shouldn't do that, but if they do it's not the end of the world or the end of that kid's life. he/she will still turn out just fine. unless that movie is "hostel", in which case the kid will be messed up for life.
