But why do you feel more able to say/express yourself than in normal life? What chemically happens to cause that?

sorry uncle dodge-you missed the point.
I'm here with my husband and we asked the q together. so no chance of any random sex or being without a helpful partner.
Don't need any guidence, more interested in why chemicals create the idea that you can say things that otherwise you wouldn't.

All humans have an id and its balance, the alterego. The result is your ego. Depressants such as alcohol take away that balance and allow the id more freedom. That's why people do things they wouldn't do sober.

You sound like you're looking for a reason to experiment. No one should stop you. Just make sure you don't do something so stupid while drunk it affects you forever, like driving or wild out-of-control sex with strangers. Any time you drink, be around someone who won't abandon you.

The functions that are most vital to life (breathing, heart beat, etc.) are controlled by the inner-most parts of your brain, whereas less vital things (i.e., inhibitions) are controlled by more distal parts. When alcohol enters your bloodstream, the first parts of your brain to be affected by the alcohol (which is a depressant) are the distal, exterior parts, including the frontal lobe, which is responsible for most reason, logic, and inhibitions. When you drink, even small amounts, your ability to reason and censor your behavior is limited by the alcohol minimizing the effectiveness of the areas of your brain responsible for such actions.

For the record, the idea of the id, ego, and the super-ego are based on theories developed by Freud, whose research methods were questionable at best, and are regarded with skepticism by most professionals and scholars. Take it with a grain of salt.

It will start to shut down the thinking part of your brain. That is why people who are drunk still think that they can safely drive...show them a video of how drunk they are when they are sober and they would tell you they know they shouldn't drive like that, but at the time they are so posative!
Same thing with your inhabitions. It can make you do things that you would never normally do!
Have you ever heard the song "alcohol" by Brad Paisley?
If not find it and listen to it...FUNNY!! And is accurate all at the same time!

It acts as a sedative and you become relaxed. At the same time it clouds your judgment and interferes with your ability to make sound decisions.

alcohol... believe it or not... is a kind of drug known as depressant..

maybe the alcohol makes you relax *too much* and start thinking kind of a bit of slow... so you tend not to *think twice* before doing the thing you are about to do... but it´s just my opinion
