As far as I'm concerned, you're never too old to go trick-or-treating as long as you put some enthusiasm into it.
You could also dress up to hand out candy. That way you could still enjoy it, just on the other end. Keep some for yourself ;-)
There's often haunted houses to go to, everyone dresses up in bars, there's hayrides, or invite your friend over for Halloween cookies.

You will need to find a couple of friends but this is something I did in law school with a group.
Weekend before Halloween, we place flyers in the mailbox of an neighborhood, explaining that on Halloween we would be collecting canned goods for a local food pantry.
Then on Halloween, we dress up in costume and go out during trick or treat hours. 3-4 people go door to door, while one person drives a car with the trunk open (canned goods are heavier than candy)
We collect a lot of canned goods for the food pantry and have a ton of fun at the same time.

Check out your city web site & see if they are having any Halloween parties anywhere in town. OR - get festive, decorate your house/home, invite some casual acquaintances over & have a Halloween party for yourself! Carve up some pumpkins, throw scary movies on the dvd player, order in pizzas & make some snacks. Instant Halloween Happiness!! Good luck, have fun, Happy Halloween
p.s. - hand out candy to the kids coming to your door - wear a costume to do this; they'll always remember you & I promise, it's fun.

Aren't there any Halloween parties or haunted houses/forests nearby? If not, you are old enough to dress up in a costume and go to a club.

Well, maybe you could decorate your house as a haunted house for Halloween so people could come walk through it. Or if you don't want to go through all the work of decorating that much, then you could still decorate your front yard real good and pass out candy. :]

It's way too early to say it sucks this year, you still have almost a month and a half to think of something to do.
