Okay- so my roommates refuse not to do drugs in the apartment that we live in togther. We are all on the lease. Today I called the management office and they said that they are going to send a patrol guard out at about 9:00 tonight. If they find that they are doing something then they will call the police. The leasing office says that they are keeping me as far away from the issue as possible. They aren't going to tell my rooommates that it was me who contacted them or anything. If they get caught it's an automatic eviction. The leasing office said that they maybe be able to disassociate me with them on the lease and that way I wouldn't get evicted.

Do you think I went too far or was it the right thing to do? Also, does the leasing office seem to be taking the right steps?

I didn't just go straight to the leasing office. I've tried talking to my roommates and the only thing they say is that they want to do it so I'm basically out numbered. Reasoning with them doesn't work.

If there was a place you could be tonight it might be a good idea to be there and have a good reason to be there. Like a date or something. Association with the problem may put you in the same place they will be but, it may have to come out that you told to get you out of there. Better that you aren't there and then the managers can tell who told and hopefully you will be out of the direct line of the cops eyes. See? I would think about another place to live and get the managers to write a letter of referral for you before you move. It may not be a great idea to leave a trail (paper trail of where you live next) Depends on the kind of drugs that are used the reaction that your roommates may have! Just be cautious. Good Luck and I sign every answer that way! Just a mother's heart talking here!

Unless the leasing office can show the police proof of any illegal activity the police cannot do anything. They cannot come busting into your apartment just on your say so even if you had called the police directly. I cannot imagine what the leasing office coming out at 9PM is going to do for you? Are you supposed to open the door and let them in? Do they plan to come walking into your apartment unannounced? Do they think your room mates will be hanging out on the balcony in plain view shooting up? If they did find drugs in the apartment and you are on the lease you are going to be evicted right along with the room mates. You better plan on spending some time in jail right along beside them.

It's a pretty dramatic thing to do, but it depends on the actions you took prior to this course of action. I might've told the roomies that you were going to tell the leasing office if they didn't change their habits, or perhaps discussed changing apartments with the leasing office without mentioning drugs (say, roommate conflict)? But let's assume you did all of that and they were unreasonable about it and changed nothing. The leasing office doesn't really have a choice. They clearly don't want to be knowlegable about illegal transactions going on at their property. It's a liability issue for them.

Here is the problem: You made a mistake.

Police usually don't pick and choose who they arrest when they make a drug bust, they arrest everyone on site and then ask the questions later.

You would have been better off calling the police yourself.

Life is hard, you need to focus more on how not to get a criminal record, than worrying about what druggies think of you.

Darling Wayf's advice is spot-on, darling. Your roommate looks unable to particular her courtroom circumstances in a mature and accountable way, yet determine to establish a gathering as Wayf shows, wherein the roommate can air her grievances without warmth. that ought to help sparkling the air sufficient to stay along with her till she strikes out. consult along with her gently and without accusation on your assembly...her habit, as you describe it, looks variety of random (quite? brushing enamel too loudly?), as though she has another, unacknowledged venture it quite is making her irritable and indignant and she or he's taking it out on you in view which you're attainable. i come across it interesting that maximum of folk slagged you off for having your BF stay over, even however you had a signed roommate contract quite pointing out which you're allowed to try this (whether this is against dorm regulations). I additionally locate it interesting how plenty blatant rudeness lives in the Etiquette area. (((TIMA3)))

You did not say what drugs . . . ( there are lots of drugs, prescription meds & alcohol among them ) .

But , the leasing office had no choice ,
Once you report criminal activity , they are liable & have to take action to resolve the issue .
