Absolutely wonderful stuff, made your hair smooth and shiny, and the greatest smell in any man's product ever. Of course, if you used too much, it could get very greasy, come off on your hands and the furniture. In moderation, it was terrific.
The stuff now that claims to be original Brylcreem has had almost all the grease removed, and the smell is totally alien and unlike the smell in the 50s.

I must be getting old...I vividly remember those commercials...and also the commercials for PF Flyers. I never used brylcreem though...hair was cut very short in those days.

Bryl-creem, a little dab'll do ya, Use more, only if you dare, But watch out, The gals will all pursue ya,-- They'll love to put their fingers thru your hair.
Then when the DRY look came, the last line of the jingle changed to:
"They'll love the natural look it gives your hair."

I remember that and Vitalis too! My sons confused Vaseline for Vitalis and put it in their hair. A bottle of shampoo and dish washing liquid could not cut through that grease!!!

I remember the commercials. Do you remember the Burma Shave signs on the old (pre-Interstate) highways?

My father still used that stuff until the day he died. But it made your hair so greasy, I don't see how the commercials could have been true.
