By having a disability and been in disability circles it given me a joy in watching the Paralympic games.

In most cases I think I've developed more empathy and compassion towards people, although journalism can whip that right out of you if you allow it to.
But then again it's my curiosity that got me into journalism because I needed to tell the stories of social justice that weren't being told about the disabled community. Kind of vicious circle.

To realize that the goal of perfection is not a worthy one.
To take joy in little things.
To realize that doing things differently is just fine.
To see the glass as always half full and not half empty
To learn to ask for help without guilt
To be happy and satisfied with less material goods
To more fully comprehend the sacrifices of my forebears
To be part of the vast & diverse disability community

I have a 30% hearing loss due to an accident as a child. I know ASL (American Sign Language). I could have learned this if I didn't suffer from the hearing loss, but it is unlikely that I would ever have been interested in it.

to yap on the internet, had to work too hard and long of hours before i became disabled!!!
i am a very good artist but too much pain anymore to get comfortable and to get into it!!!
have the best pain medication there is but its not enough!!!
