I am going broke from divorce, and my children are being told every day by the mother not to like me. I have a dead end job that I accepted to be closer to my wonderful, innocent son and daughter. I no longer desire to date and recently have stopped going out or having fun outside since it's expensive. I'm losing the war against the wallet, and it directly affects everything.
All this is crashing down on me since I said "until death do us part, so help me God" to a woman I wanted to have my children with....and we are both still alive and disliking each other. Is this how the Lord keeps promises? Why would He want me not to raise my children? I am not a felon, abuser or drug user. Just a victim of our society's ideal about who gets the kids. I let her get her degree first, and now she's a spiteful, negative person. What did I do to deserve this? She is a devout Catholic. Where in the sciptures does it say this is the way?
I refuse to believe any deity would want either the children or me to suffer this way. I firmly believe that religion is a form of brainwashing to get people to do "the right thing". Well, you can do the right thing without being promised a world you cannot prove exists.
The truth is you can only ask for hope so long before you have to do things with your own hands, just as true as it is that we can only explain things as far as science will take us and then we must believe in a miracle.
Save the planet we're on long enough for existence to be scientifically justified. The miracle hasn't happened yet.

I agree with vodka its the people, for a book written two thou year ago, Some people take it very liberally. Its a old moral code book, outdated.
