Hardware or Software? Since you posted in hardware, I'm going to assume hardware, as the other guy gave you the software definition.
Flash generally refers to Flash RAM, a type of memory that can be read and written and does NOT lose its contents when powered off. Thus, it is quite efficient to be used as storage device.
Initial cost problems have been solved and now you can get 2 GB flash drives for like $40, and they're the size of your thumb, thus they are also sometimes called Thumbdrives, when they are equipped with built-in USB ports.
Digital cameras with its various media types all use Flash RAM as well, in various sizes, from SD to MiniSD to MicroSD to CompactFlash to xD and MMC and Memory Stick (tm) and so on.

a platform owned by adobe which offers vector rendering online. Used a lot for video these days (youtube.com) and adverts. adobe has just released flash cs3 which you can do almost anything with, games, animation, video etc.
