whenever a application or internet explorer freezes or is not responding or whatever i hit ctr alt delete, then i highlight the thing, hit end task, then end now. but, when i hit "end now" in takes like 30 seconds to actually end it, is there a way to fix it so it ends it after i click the button, or is this normal? why does it do this. any info would help. ALSO dont say "just go to processes and hit end process and hit yes, ive been doing that and its not a good idea b/c it works, BUT it turns that entire process off.

fore example- lets say norton is not responding for some reason, using end task will get me out of there. end proccess works all the time BUT only because it shuts down the whole process and brings me back to the desktop.

The computer is so busy with the crashed program that it doesn't even have enough resources to end the program now. It happens quite often. You can just wait and the computer will usually take care of it, or if it's completely frozen, just reboot.

Sounds like you've clogged the old boy up a bit.

If you don't already- get some good cleaners. Spybot and Ad-aware do the job handsomely. Both free both work and both play nicely with each other.

I think your system is just full up and taking a while to sort out what's going on. Remember there is a reason your program hung in the first place and it's that problem you really want to tackle, to stop this happening.

Norton sucks by the way and AVG Anti-virus and Zone Alarm Firewall are both better and free. Firefox will help you not get the bugs in there to begin with.

Done all that? Time for an upgrade, maybe...

somethings making it not respond. try cleaning out your computer. go into start, control panel, add/remove, and remove some of those programs you have in there that you dont really need. if you're not sure about a program, dont mess with it.

then download "ccleaner", after the download, open it up from the desktop icon and put a check next to the boxes on the left , then click the "cleanup" feature on the right. after you've done this, go on the internet, then try the "end task". it should be a lil faster. hope this helps, good luck.
