I will try to answer this best I can. Some sciences work hand in hand in new discoveries and new studies. for example anatomy & physiology you really cannot have one without the other as a result you learn about every part of a body and its functions and how it works together as a whole.
plate techtonics have many different sciences in it. Geology, Volcanology, Seismology, etc. if a volcano is expected to erupt at any time say within the next 48 hours as an educated guess. you would need seismology to constantly measure siesmic shift which is a very big part, volcanology to monater the volcano itself using tilt meters (watch or buldging or change in shape), gas readings, check for lava flow, check the crater and get gas readings on that, check acidity in the water etc, Geologists check the rocks and would measure when the mountain was last active and by the layers of the rock could tell geologic time wise the pattern of the volcanic eruptions and could have a better guess of when the next eruptions is, they also would check acidity in the water around the mountain and surrounding towns.
yes different branches of science do come together to get more accurate results.
