In the deoxygenated state the blood is almost transparent. When oxygenated, it becomes azure(sky blue).This is due to the respiratory pigment dissolved in hemolymph called hemocyanin. This is a conjugated protein containing copper.

Spider blood is light blue. Blood fills up all the empty space in the spider's body, it helps to keep the legs stiff so the spider can walk.

It's color is because the oxygen transporting chemical, hemocyanin, is based on copper and not iron.
