My Dell laptop, granted, is a pretty old model. It always has to be plugged in via the cable or else it goes dead within a minute. I bought a new battery for it, and tried unplugging it, but with this battery, it went dead even faster! So I don't think the battery is the problem. What to do?

Maybe the computer is frying the batteries or in a strange case the battery port is not sending/receiving the power charge, you'll have to spend a little money in a repair shop to get that problem fixed.

Sorry I don't have much of an answer for you, but I have the same problem with my Dell and have had it since I first bought it last year. it never holds charge for more than an hour. This is also what has happened to my Mothers and nephews dell laptops as well.

Sounds like your Laptop is on its last "bites". It's time to break in a new one. BUT, -look on the "bright side"; they're a LOT cheaper than they were when you bought THAT one, and they can DO alot more stuff, faster- too! So it's not all bad. :) Have a nice weekend!
